Paris : April 2: Conference by Waldemar Kamer, organised by 9e Histoire at the Town Hall of the 9th arrondissement, La redécouverte de Lise Cristiani, followed by a book signing of Lise Cristiani.

Bilthoven (Netherlands):  8 April, a lecture-concert by René de Vries at Huize Gaudeamus on his book Met een cello door Siberië, het avontuurlijke leven van Lise Cristiani (1827–1853) en haar Stradivarius-cello (1700–present), Delft: Elmar, 2014. Featuring Felix Mendelssohn’s Romance sans paroles (Op. 109), ‘dédiée à Mlle Lise Cristiani!’ and the Sonata for Cello and Piano in A minor (1919) by the Dutch composer Henriëtte Bosmans (1895-1952), performed by Arjen Vredenberg (cello) and Stein van Eden (piano).

 

Baton Rouge (United States): 10 April at Louisiana State University, defence of Emilia González Dorantes’s Master’s thesis, Lisa Cristiani: A Survey and Analysis of Her Musical Travels Through the Russian Empire (1848–1853). To our knowledge, this is the first academic study on Lise Cristiani outside Germany and all the more admirable given that the author is from Mexico City. The research into Russian sources - which remain unpublished or little known in the West - is first-hand. Unfortunately, the author was unable to incorporate the new information from this website and from the first biography of Lise “due to calendar constraints” (as she writes). Chapters I and II therefore need reviewing (names, dates, chronology), but Chapters III and IV in Russia – the core of the work – is/are remarkable!

Brussels: 4 May – 10 June, as part of the 3rd Queen Elisabeth Competition dedicated to the cello, special recognition is given to women cellists, in particular the first professional cellist Lise Cristiani:

Paris: 27 May: at the Hôtel de Massa, home of the Société des Gens de Lettres, co-produced with the Théâtre de l’Épopée, Sur les pas de Lise (In the Footsteps of Lise). A narrative concert conceived by Marie-Thérèse Grisenti with Xavier-Valéry Gauthier (narration), Marie-Thérèse Grisenti (cello) and Marc Vitantonio (piano), followed by a reception and a meet-and-greet with Waldemar Kamer.

15 June at the Centre Spirituel et culturel orthodoxe russe, co-organised with the Association Dialogue Franco-Russe, Sur les pas de Lise, a narrative concert conceived by Marie-Thérèse Grisenti, featuring Héloïse Guillot (narration), Marie-Thérèse Grisenti (cello) and Marc Vitantonio (piano), followed by a a meet-and-greet with, amongst others, Waldemar Kamer and a book signing for Lise Cristiani. Madrid: 17 June at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, Maria Salvatori’s Bachelor’s thesis defence, supervised by Ivan Monighetti; the second academic work on Lise Cristiani in 2026. [in Spanish, title & details to follow]

 

Blagoveshchensk (Siberia): 29 June. Launch of a Franco-Russian research project focusing on three 19th-century figures: Lise Cristiani (a French Russophile who died in Russia), Count Nikolai Nikolaevich Muravyov-Amursky, Governor of Eastern Siberia and founder of the city of Blagoveshchensk (a Russian Francophile who died in France) and Countess Katerina Nikolaevna Muravyova-Amurskaya, née Élisabeth Bourgeois de Richemont of Paris (a French Russophile and a Russian Francophile). To mark the city’s 170th anniversary, a journal was published by the Pedagogical University, edited by Ms Olga Kukharenko, featuring previously unpublished documents by the historians Arkadi B. Bellini Hagondokoff (Paris), Waldemar Kamer (Paris) and Sergei Kornilov (Vladivostok) – in French: Link.
